From the Basketball Court to the Loom — My Story
Hello, I‘m Le.
For six years, I was a basketball coach. My idol was Kobe Bryant, and his “Mamba Mentality” guided me: never give up, stay true to what you love.
I come from Guangxi, China — the home of Zhuang brocade. For generations, the women in my village have been weaving blessings and stories into every piece of fabric. Each pattern carries a piece of our culture.
But lately, I noticed something heartbreaking. This craft is fading. Fewer young people want to learn. The looms are growing quieter.
I still love the energy of the basketball court. But deep down, I felt something was missing. I wanted to do something meaningful — something that connects me back to my roots.
So I made a decision. I stepped away from basketball and started this journey.
Maybe it sounds like goodbye. But to me, it’s the same Mamba Mentality — find what’s truly worth holding onto, and give it everything you have.
Today, I work with local artisans to bring Zhuang brocade into everyday life. We make bags, accessories, and home goods — things you can actually use, not just admire. Every pattern carries a blessing.
This is my way of sharing Guangxi with the world. I hope you fall in love with these treasures from my hometown, just as I have.
Thank you for being here.
— Le
